The guzheng is a traditional Chinese plucked zither with a long history of over 2,500 years. It typically has 21 strings stretched over movable bridges, and is played with fingerpicks on the right hand while the left hand presses the strings to create bends, vibratos, and ornaments. Known for its bright, flowing, and lyrical tone, the guzheng is one of the most popular Chinese instruments, widely used in solo, ensemble, and contemporary crossover music. Its pentatonic tuning gives it a distinctively ethereal and elegant sound.

Teacher - Ms. Ma Qing
Ma Qing（马卿） is a distinguished guzheng educator and graduate of the China Conservatory of Music, where she began her studies at age five under Professors Qiu Dacheng（邱大成） and Lin Ling（林玲）. She holds a bachelor's degree from the China Conservatory and has also completed the Peking University Arts Teacher Training Program. A certified Senior Teacher and official examiner for the China Conservatory's guzheng grading exams, she is also a performer with the Beijing Instrumental Society Guzheng Ensemble and a member of the Music Education Committee of the China Association for the Promotion of Children's Culture and Arts. With 20 years of teaching experience, she offers a mature, student‑tailored approach, maintains excellent communication with parents, and has a proven track record of high pass rates in both the China Conservatory and Central Conservatory grading systems.
